About
Born and raised amidst the vibrant river valley of Edmonton, AB, Hannah discovered her artistic soul early on. Drawn to the world of ceramics, she first felt the transformative touch of clay in her hands as a young girl during a pottery class at the City Arts Centre in Edmonton. It was there that the seed of her lifelong love affair with pottery was planted. Though her heart belonged to art, Hannah pursued an education in environmental engineering at the University of Alberta, eventually delving into municipal engineering with her local water utility. However, her passion for ceramics remained undiminished. As a self-taught artist, she embarked on a journey of exploration, refining her craft through local classes and independently at the Devon Pottery Guild, in Devon, Alberta. In 2023, Hannah took a significant step towards formalizing her artistic pursuits, enrolling in the Selkirk College Ceramics program. This decision marked a turning point in her artistic journey, providing her with new perspectives and techniques to elevate her pottery to new heights. In a world where art and engineering often diverge, Hannah's journey is a harmonious synthesis of two seemingly disparate disciplines. As an artist and engineer, Hannah bridges the gap between form and function by blending beauty and technical precision, reflecting her commitment to creating purposeful art.
